Mr Saurav Chakravartty MBBS MS MD FRCS (Gen Surg)
Mr Chakravartty is a Consultant Upper Gastrointestinal, bariatric and emergency surgeon at Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH). He undertook higher surgical training in the Kent, Surrey and Sussex (KSS) Deanery. His special interest lies in bariatric (weight loss/metabolic) surgery and has trained in three different high volume bariatric centres in the UK.
He has undertaken research in bariatric surgery in King’s College London and his thesis led to an MD degree (2014). He has completed a specialist 12 month Royal College of Surgeons of England approved Fellowship in bariatric surgery in St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester (2020-2021). In addition, his operative expertise includes laparoscopic anti-reflux surgery, laparoscopic gall bladder surgery, laparoscopic and open hernia surgery, gastroscopy and all forms of emergency general surgery.
