Mentoring can be a really positive experience for GPs and can deliver a number of personal and organisational benefits including:

  • increased productivity and better time management

  • increased job-related wellbeing, self-esteem and confidence

  • better work-life balance

  • preparation for the future and heightened career aspirations

  • be a trained mentor, part if a group and receiving supervision.

  • matched to you - if you require an out of area mentor, this can also be arranged.

  • hold full registration and a licence to practise with the GMC and not subject to suspension under section 41A of the Medical Act 1983.

  • Meet the requirements for remaining on the NHS England GP Performers List and report to NHS England any concerns that might affect your status on the National Medical Performers List

Practitioner Health Programme

Practitioner Health is a free, confidential NHS primary care mental health and addiction service with expertise in treating health & care professionals.

The service can help with a range of mental health conditions and addictions in primary care settings.

Practitioner Health is a self-referral service, although in some circumstances they accept referrals from other organisations. The act of self-referral is key as this acknowledges recognition of need, preparedness to trust the service and willingness to engage in treatment.
